WHAT IS ECLIPSE?

Eclipse is a Peer Education project, which operates in West Lothian. Eclipse receives funding and financial support from the Scottish Executive, Changing Children’s services fund and West Lothian Drug Action Team and is run by the West Lothian Youth Action Project.

ECLIPSE AIMS

  • To reduce the harm caused and risk taken in relation to all drug and alcohol use.
  • To create opportunities for young people to work together in a relaxed and confidential setting.

ECLIPSE OBJECTIVES

  • To supply accurate drug and alcohol information, which will enable young people to make informed choices.
  • To encourage young people to look at and reflect on attitudes to drug and alcohol use both legal and illegal.
  • To develop peer led initiatives and promote peer led drug and alcohol information.
  • To recruit, train and support peer educators.

WHAT DOES ECLIPSE DO?

Eclipse operates throughout West Lothian, working with young people in a variety of settings to raise awareness of drug and alcohol use and promote positive lifestyles.

Eclipse adopts a peer led approach. The project supports young volunteers (between 16 and 21) to work with other young people on drug and alcohol issues, which affect them.

Eclipse operates in schools, youth clubs and other places where young people feel at ease discussing aspects of drug and alcohol use.

Eclipse encourages young people to look at their own attitude to drug and alcohol, both legal and illegal.

Eclipse gives young people the opportunity to voice their opinions about substances by working with them on these issues.
