As part of the WLYAP summer programme development we teamed up with Sound Station Studios to offer a weeklong Summer Music Academy (24th – 28th July 2006).
The lucky individuals who signed up for the course where taken through tuition on their chosen instrument by industry professionals, they also took part in workshops covering rehearsals, improvisation, recording your own CD and performing to a live audience. They used high quality / professional rehearsal rooms and recording studio and performed at a fully equipped music venue.
The Yap Music Summer Academy was open to all young in the West Lothian Area between the ages of 12 and 21 yrs old who have their own instrument and was totally free.
The main tuition was on Guitar, Bass, Drums Vocals and DJ/Mixing.
YAP music was created in July 2003 within West Lothian Youth Action Project.
The conception of YAP music was a direct response to the growing demands from
bands and artistes in the West Lothian area who had no real platform in which to project their music.
The aim of YAP music is to establish music as an alternative youth work medium
and also to provide service to young people in their own environment, throughout West Lothian.
